Okay, so 2013 hasn’t been the easiest year for us. The culprit, Bub 3 running amok in my uterus and causing all manner of problems since June. Needless to say those that are bed-bound can’t do too much traveling, or anything much for that matter. Thankfully, things have settled down some what, I am blogging again, and we, within the limits of my pregnancy exploring our new home of Victoria with the kids. Even with a rough year we enjoyed some great travels together – here’s our best of the lot.
Best trip
The highlight of our year was definitely our first trip to China, in March. This was a snow trip, to northern China near the Russian border and provided a number of firsts for our family.
Me: First experience of minus 20 degree celsius temperatures.
Hubby: First time off work in far too long. (frown lines appear and she glares into the distance at medical hierarchy in Cairns).
Bub 1: First time skiing.
Bub 2: First celebrity experience – haunted by Chinese “paparazzi” every where we went taking photos of his gorgeous blond noggin.

Best Australian family resort
Our family stays in all manner of accommodation when traveling but resorts that cater for families specifically work the best. Sea World Resort was our favourite this year. The location – directly next to Sea World, child friendly facilities, and quiet spaces where kids could be calm and quiet all worked together to provide us with a wonderful holiday.

Best travel health post
Ok, I will be honest. The travel health posts receive the least views of all my posts. As a GP and public health physician I really believe sharing evidence based travel health advice is important though so I plan to keep sharing them into 2014. This post on Traveling while pregnant is particularly pertinent given my current situation.
