Planning to fly with an infant or toddler that will be sharing your seat? Don’t bother with those self check-in consoles that many airlines (including Qantas) offer. Self check-in is not allowed for passengers traveling with a lap child, so save time and head straight to a check-in counter staffed by a real person. Although I have known that passengers traveling with a lap child were required to check-in at the service desk, I was surprised today to find that the same applied even though my now two year old had his own ticket. The catch apparently was that we were checking-in a collapsible stroller. The reason for this – who knows, but I won’t be bothering with those consoles until our stroller days are behind us.
