Recently we drove the Wheelbarrow Way, a road connecting the Queensland Atherton Tableland’s town of Mareeba with the outback mining town of Chillagoe. Our 2 1/2 hour road trip from Cairns took us through rainforest, past mango plantations and eventually into the red-dusted, termite mounded outback. This photo was taken as we slowed to a crawl, nervous about stopping because our vehicle was surrounded by cattle.

what a cool photo 🙂 it would be scary to be surrounded by cattle, but at the same time a great adventure!
Oh my, do the cows in Australia eat cars? 😉
That’s a great sign. I would have photographed it, too. I was almost late picking up my kids from the first day of school because a cow was in the road. Luckily, it wasn’t in my lane.
My daughter would love to snap a picture of that sign! How cute- although I have a feeling we wouldn’t find it cute if we were actually traveling along that road. Yikes!
I’ve never heard of cows attacking vehicles, and never seen a sign like this even though I have travelled frequently in remote Australia. The sign was duplicated a number of times so I guess it has happened a bit on that road.
