Lights by Dreamworks Review

Lights by Dreamworks

With the school holidays looming there is a new blue ribbon event in the greater Melbourne area that will put smiles on many a little face.  Lights by Dreamworks is a winning combination of popular Dreamworks characters immortalised in spectacular Chinese inspired silk lanterns, children rides and craft activities.  Coming together under interconnecting big tops on the Rosebud Foreshore on the Mornington Peninsula access to Lights by Dreamworks is via a sessional all inclusive ticket.

If you have a child that is a fan of either the Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon or Madagascar franchises you will want to put Lights by Dreamworks on your school holiday to do list.

What we loved about Lights by Dreamworks:

-The lanterns – really, they were beautiful.  As an art installation I was very impressed.

-There are three craft activities and each is substantial – my kids decorated their own paper lanterns, decorated their own shields and there is an animation station.  These were not token craft activities – the kids spent time on their artwork and had something to take home to remember the day by.

-Character interactions.  Okay, two out of my three children are terrified of larger than life characters however if you have kids that love meeting their animated heres then this event is for you.  Puss in Boots, Shrek and Kung Fu Panda were all roving when we were there and available for photos.

Only one of my children is brave enough to get close to a character….

-Rides – a number of rides suitable for small children were included in the entrance price.  As small pirate ship, tea-cup ride, inflatable slide and children train.  All my kids (aged 8, 6 and 3) loved these and lines weren’t long – they got to ride again and again.

Lights by Dreamworks is open at The Village Green in Rosebud until April 30.  Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.

Disclaimer:  We were the guests of Lights by Dreamworks.  As usual my opinions are my own.
