I started writing about travel with children as a consequence of a journey I took when my first son was still a young baby. The profound, profound sleep deprivation I suffered as a result of my son’s jet lag led me to my lowest moments as a mother. Rather than giving up on travel the challenges I faced on that journey taught me that I needed to be prepared, organised, and have some sort of system if I was to successfully travel with a small child again. Flight Centre kindly invited me to write a post as a guest blogger for them, and I jumped at the chance to share with other parents what I have learnt about managing jet lag when traveling with a young child. You can read that post “Handling jet lag with young children” on the Flight Centre blog. In the post I also talk about how, given the right destination you can use jet lag to your family’s advantage. We did this when we visited Disneyland this year. I would love to hear from all of you that have other tips for managing jet lag that I missed out in the Flight Centre post. Also, are there any destinations (other than Disneyland) where jet lag can be used for good rather than evil?
