It still isn’t too late to experience the gorgeous decorations and Christmas displays in Melbourne’s CBD. To help you find your way, here are some of the Christmas displays that we found in Melbourne city.
Christmas Square. Located on Swanston Street between Collins Street and Flinders Lane.
City Square has been transformed to put city goers in a festive mood for the Christmas season. Perfect for small children is the hedge maze, where kids can search for Rudolph. Santa is in residence during the day, there is a traditional nativity scene, a postbox just for Santa’s mail and a Christmas tree of splendid proportions.
The Myer Christmas Windows. Located in the Bourke Street Mall.
This long standing Melbourne tradition draws crowds every year so do expect queues to view the windows. This year’s animated display depicts the story “Gingerbread Friends” by Australian author Jan Brett. The displays are pretty, and although not a traditional Christmas story Gingerbread Baby’s quest for friends is one that small children relate to.
Gingerbread Village located in Melbourne Town Hall at 100 Swanston Street
A gold coin donation to the Make a Wish Foundation grants you access to this giant gingerbread village, open between the hours of 10am-6pm. Expect to see Melbourne icons immortalised in gingerbread.
Christmas projections at the Melbourne Town Hall at 100 Swanston Street
Between dusk and 11pm stunning light projections accompanied by music illuminate the Melbourne Town Hall.
