Another mother recently told me she had gone to England for 17 days without her children. I am not quiet ready for that, but I am just starting to venture out with my husband for an occasional night away. I know this blog focuses on traveling with children however having time alone as a couple is also important. For that reason I have decided that as I discover each new parent’s getaway I will share it here in the hope other parents will gain some inspiration for their own getaways.

The Plantation Restaurant is a “hot rock” restaurant offering a novelty dining experience. Diners choose from a limited selection of mains which they then cook themselves on superheated volcanic rock plates at the table. Meals are served as three courses – soup and salad, the hot rock dish, and a trio of sorbet. Those wishing to be adventurous are catered to. My husband chose to dine on the Australian coat of arms (kangaroo and emu) with some crocodile tail thrown in for good measure. My own barramundi fillet cooked on the hot rock in less than five minutes and was delicious.
The Hotel ‘s decor is distinctly tropical and rooms provide a relaxing space away from the children.
Other facilities at the Hotel include a small gym, pool and Jacuzzi. Smart cars and bicycles can be hired from the Hotel at a modest cost.
The Hotel has two seater smart cars available to hire for $45 dollars a day (you only pay for the insurance)
